Technical Program Manager – R&D Testing
Source One is a consulting services company and we’re currently looking for the following individual to work as a consultant to our client, an autonomous vehicle company in Foster City, CA.* We are not able to work with third party companies for this role.Title: Technical Program Manager – R&D Testing (Contract)Location: Zoox in Foster City, CA (onsite)Pay Rate: Up to $91.85/hour (W-2)Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager – R&D Testing to support a cutting-edge autonomous mobility company. This role will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of pre-service testing activities, ensuring testing operations are aligned with engineering, operational, and business objectives. This is an excellent opportunity for a collaborative program manager who thrives in highly technical, cross-functional environments and enjoys driving complex testing initiatives from strategy through execution.Responsibilities- Develop and execute the strategy for R&D testing in collaboration with Engineering, Operations, Finance, Procurement, and PMO teams.- Coordinate testing schedules, resources, equipment, and facilities to ensure successful close-course testing operations.- Establish and maintain documentation, processes, and ownership across testing programs.- Manage testing assets and ensure operational teams have the resources needed to meet project objectives.- Lead program status meetings and communicate milestones, risks, issues, and key decisions to stakeholders.- Build and manage relationships with proving grounds, testing facilities, equipment vendors, and external partners.- Define and manage budgets for testing facilities, equipment, and operational resources.- Develop reporting metrics and dashboards to track program performance, KPIs, and project health.- Maintain a strong understanding of vehicle platforms, software development lifecycles, testing operations, and release readiness.- Partner with cross-functional teams to drive execution across multiple concurrent programs.Required Qualifications- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.- 5–8 years of experience in Technical Program Management, Engineering, Program Management, or Management Consulting.- Experience coordinating complex engineering programs, schedules, assets, and resources.- Strong knowledge of project management tools such as Smartsheet, Jira, Gantt charts, risk matrices, or similar platforms.- Excellent organizational, presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.- Proven ability to communicate effectively with technical and executive stakeholders.- Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.Preferred Qualifications- Experience in autonomous vehicles, automotive engineering, robotics, or advanced mobility.- Knowledge of vehicle testing, validation, and safety-critical systems.- Experience working with OEMs, Tier 1 automotive suppliers, or product development organizations.- Strong background developing scalable program management processes and reporting.- Experience managing vendor relationships, testing facilities, and operational budgets.- Ability to work independently while driving alignment across cross-functional teams.- Comfortable operating in an evolving, high-growth environment with aggressive timelines.
