Patient Care Tech - Surgical Unit - Night Shift

Shift-NightsThe Patient Care Technician is responsible for:Under the supervision of a nurse, and taking into consideration the developmental needs of the patient, performs routine patient activities and delegated patient care procedures of a specialized and technical nature as competency documentation designates.Assist the patient with changing/dressingTransports the patient by stretcher, bed, or wheelchair (this is a large part of the job)Identifies abnormal findings that could adversely affect surgical and patient outcomes, including abnormal vital signs, Accucheck results, lab, EKG, and CXR resultsReport all abnormal findings to the appropriate nursing staffEscorts patients to holding roomsAssists with patient changing, and removal of belongings such as jewelry, dentures, contact lenses, etc.Verifies patient informationOrients patients and families to the environmentObtains vital signsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Provides basic clinical skills required to safely perform routine delegated patient care activities, record and report pertinent clinical data, knowledge and use of specialized patient care equipmentRequired Licensure, Certification, On-going Training:1. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification2. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
