Our team is comprised of highly skilled civil hydrologic, structural, and geotechnical engineers, consulting to the world’s largest stakeholders for solar, wind, and battery storage energy projects. We are seeking a Principal Civil/Hydrologic Engineer who is ready to grow and develop while supporting our US and Canadian team.The engineer in this position will be exposed to the broadest cross-section of solar, storage and wind projects of any renewables company in the world supporting a wide breath of civil engineering projects by providing civil, owners and independent engineering consulting services for the renewable industry. Our team is charged with ensuring civil works of solar, infrastructure and wind are consistent with current standards and prepared to operate well into the future of the renewable energy industry. Further details regarding role-specific requirements will be shared during the interview process.What You’ll DoMentoring of team members and providing or developing training material for new services Multi-disciplinary collaboration for Independent Engineering, Owner’s Engineering, and Merger & Acquisition services Support the preliminary designs of solar and wind Projects (up to approximately 30% design); from siting to preliminary design, to EPC bid handlingReview civil design drawings and studies for solar and wind energy project’s civil infrastructure, to support project financing or owner due diligence processesEvaluate root cause analyses from flooding and erosion of solar and wind energy projectsObservation and documentation of solar and wind energy project constructionEvaluate innovative design concepts for solar and wind energy project site designSupport business development activities, through engaging in authentic, expertise-driven discussions with DNV’s 25+ key accounts and over 100+ renewable energy customers in North America. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the states of Colorado, New York City, NY, California, Washington, and Connecticut only, the range of starting pay for this role is $145,000 – $185,000.QualificationsWhat is RequiredBachelor of Science – civil engineering or hydrologyAt least 10 years of experience with project design through construction with a minimum of 5 of those years in the renewable energy industryP.E. or P.Eng. license Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D and/or other Autodesk design toolsProficiency in IBC, ASCE 7 and other common civil hydrology design codesUnderstanding of hydrologic and hydraulic concepts and analysis, specific to assessments at solar and wind projects Familiarity with hydraulic engineering software systems (FLO2D, HEC-RAS, WMS, SMS or equivalents)Knowledge of common layout concepts and understanding of typical construction methods for solar and wind energy projects Understanding of stormwater management regulations in the US and/or Canada for project constructionAble to work independently and make independent decisions when called forWilling and able to travel up to 25% of the time, both domestic and internationalWilling and able to use common construction personal protective equipment, walk over uneven terrain, and climb ladders during site visitsStrong written and verbal English communication skillsWe conduct pre-employment drug and background screeningA valid Drivers License is required What Is PreferredPrior experience with other infrastructures (transmission line, substation, hydrogen)Prior experience in land surveying and mappingPrior experience with GIS, hydraulic modelling, FEMA requirementsImmigration-related employment benefits, for example visa sponsorship, are not available for this position About UsAbout Energy SystemsWe help customers navigate the complex transition to a decarbonized and more sustainable energy future.
