Job Description
The Technical Writer creates, updates, and reviews documents related to the activities of transmission and generation operations. Documents may include operating practices, reference material, job aids, and other instructional guides. This individual may also assist with the technical writing required for special projects, as assigned.
Responsibilities
Create new operating practices, update and review existing operating practices (Under supervision)
Work with client’s leadership, Subject Matter Experts (SME), technical leads, and external entities to gather information needed for operating practices and real-time processes, as required.
Assist in the training department with creating and updating training job aids, reference documents, and presentations.
Assist with special projects, which may include writing program documents and reports.
Participates in client’s initiatives and implementation activities, committees, and discussions.
Qualifications
Completion of an associate’s degree or 60 college credit hours from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.
A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in technical writing.
Good technical writing and communication skills
Ability to articulate complex technical information so that others can understand
Ability to read and interpret detailed technical documents
Preferred Qualifications
NERC Certification
Experience in writing operating practices for an electrical utility.
