Responsibilities
Conduct thorough medical history assessments and physical examinations for adult patients to establish accurate diagnoses.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that incorporate evidence-based practices and patient preferences.
Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic and EMR platforms to document patient encounters accurately and efficiently.
Order, interpret, and discuss results of diagnostic tests including medical imaging, CT scans, and laboratory studies with patients.
Manage acute and chronic illnesses across diverse conditions such as endocrinology, cardiology, rheumatology, and infectious disease care.
Coordinate patient care with specialists in fields like psychiatry, pulmonology, neurology, and obstetrics when necessary.
Provide health coaching, preventive screenings, immunizations, and patient education to promote wellness and disease prevention.
Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects to enhance care delivery standards.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain meticulous medical records for all patient interactions.
Engage in discharge planning, post-operative care, and follow-up visits to optimize recovery outcomes.
Experience
Proven experience in outpatient or inpatient internal medicine practice within a hospital or clinic setting.
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or similar electronic health record platforms.
Demonstrated competence in managing complex cases involving multiple comorbidities across various specialties including endocrinology, cardiology, pulmonology, dermatology, and more.
Experience with hospital medicine or Level I/II trauma center environments is highly desirable.
Knowledge of medical coding (CPT/ICD) for billing purposes along with familiarity with documentation standards like NCQA or HIPAA compliance.
Prior involvement in clinical research or participation in multidisciplinary teams focused on quality improvement is advantageous.
Strong skills in patient assessment, critical care procedures such as airway management or ventilator support, and basic life support certification are preferred.
