The unit cares for patients with conditions such as congestive heart failure, post-myocardial infarction, pulmonary hypertension, and cardiac arrhythmias. Responsibilities include close monitoring of patients, management of drips, IV starts, and sheath pulls. Nurses will care for patients post-cath lab procedures, prior to LVAD placements, heart or lung transplants, and pre-valve replacements. Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned based on operational needs, with training and resources provided. Traveling nurses are expected to adhere to floating requirements within the hospital and nearby facilities. The environment supports interdisciplinary teamwork, including IV teams and respiratory services. Candidates should be prepared to precept nursing students as part of the teaching facility's role.
