In this role, you will help shape ICSC’s intelligence narrative by turning market data, economic indicators, and emerging trends into insights that inform leadership, members, and key stakeholders.The ideal candidate brings commercial real estate or related industry experience, strong analytical judgment, and the ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative information from multiple sources into clear, well-supported insights on retail real estate, consumer-facing sectors, and broader market dynamics. Success in this role requires strong analytical judgment, exceptional attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to validating data, assumptions, and findings. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with imperfect or evolving information while maintaining a high standard of accuracy, accountability, and transparency in all deliverables.Knowledge of retail real estate metrics, macroeconomic conditions, consumer trends, and capital markets activity is essential. This role will contribute to trend analysis, executive-level presentations, strategic initiatives, and broader insights and intelligence efforts across the organization. While this is an individual contributor role, the position is deeply integrated within a collaborative team environment that depends on proactive communication, transparency, responsiveness, and active engagement across workflows and projects.Duties and Responsibilities:Develop topics, themes and narratives for executive-level presentations, reports and other insights-driven deliverables for ICSC leadership, members and key stakeholders.Research, analyze and synthesize data from multiple sources to identify meaningful trends, patterns and implications for the retail real estate industry.Translate complex quantitative and qualitative information into clear, concise and well-supported analysis suitable for executive and industry audiences.Conduct research and analysis on core industry topics, including retail real estate fundamentals, macroeconomic conditions, consumer behavior, capital markets and other factors that directly or indirectly shape the industry.Validate data, assumptions, findings, sources, and methodologies to ensure accuracy, consistency, transparency and credibility across presentations, reports and related materialsDevelop analyses, summaries and briefing materials in response to internal and external requests.Proactively monitor industry developments, emerging trends and relevant data sources to identify topics that may warrant further analysis or presentation.Engage with internal stakeholders to understand informational needs and collaborate with external experts, partners and data providers to gather relevant context and supporting information.Contribute to strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects requiring industry analysis, trend interpretation or market context, as needed.Communicate progress, findings, questions and potential issues clearly and consistently with team leadership and colleagues.Work collaboratively within the Insights & Intelligence team to refine analysis, pressure-test conclusions and ensure outputs are accurate, relevant and aligned with organizational priorities.Core Competencies:Intellectual Curiosity & Analytical Thinking – Demonstrates curiosity and sound analytical thinking when identifying trends, evaluating information and exploring industry developments.Comfort with Complexity & Ambiguity- Effectively navigates large volumes of information, including incomplete, evolving or sometimes contradictory inputs, while maintaining sound judgment and analytical discipline.Analytical Rigor & Attention to Detail – Maintains a high standard of precision, accuracy and consistency across data collection, analysis, and validation.Adaptability & Prioritization – Operates effectively in a dynamic and evolving environment, adjusting to shifting priorities, changing timelines and new information, as needed.Insight Development & Communication -Translates complex quantitative and qualitative information into clear, concise, and well-supported insights for executive, industry, and internal audiences.Collaboration & Communication – Works effectively within a collaborative team environment, demonstrating proactive communication, transparency, responsiveness and active engagement across projects and workflows.Accountability & Ownership – Takes ownership of work products and deliverables from development through final review, demonstrating reliability, follow-through and accountability for the quality and accuracy of outputs.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, or related field. Master’s degree in business, economics or field relevant to commercial real estate is a plus.5+ years of experience in research or closely related fieldExperience in commercial real estate is required; experience in retail real estate or consumer-facing sectors is strongly preferredStrong analytical skills and problem-solving abilityAbility to proactively identify research opportunities, align analysis with organizational priorities, and improve the quality and relevance of research outputsAbility to multi-task and manage time and workloadStrong quantitative skillset with ability to identify new insights and trends through data analyticsCollaborative attitude and willingness to work both independently and as part of a dynamic teamEffective written and oral communication skills; experience turning market data into executive-ready narratives.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required; experience with data visualization, market research platforms, or commercial real estate data sources is preferred.
