Law Enforcement Officer DutiesFacilitate classroom studies for law enforcement personnel using instructional techniques or formats (e.g., role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, lectures).Prepare course material to instruct personnel in the field of law enforcement (e.g., law and evidence, terrorist, laws of arrest, search and seizure, basic criminology, accident investigation).Serve as a firearms range control officer in the operation of a range program for a Practical Weapons Course (PWC) or Firearms Training System (FATS).Report performance, progress, or training needs of law enforcement employees to supervisor.Explain policies, goals, procedures, and regulations to assigned law enforcement personnel.Collaborate with training facilities (e.g., installation personnel, regional training academy staff) to supplement course instruction.RequirementsMust be a US Citizen.Must be determined suitable for federal employment.Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.The DON does not employ individuals for Law Enforcement Officer positions who have been convicted of a crime of domestic violence on or after 27 November 2002.Candidates for LEO positions must not have reached their 37th birthday by date of appointment.You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required.This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential.This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment of the Gun Control Act.Within the Department of Defense, the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.Required to pass a yearly physical and continue to be physically fit. Required to pass Physical Agility Test.You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program is a condition of continued employment.Must successfully complete a DoD approved Police Training Academy or equivalent course.You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.This is a Mission Essential position.
