Cloud Engineering Specialist
Job Description
We are looking for a Cloud Engineering Specialist to support a university technology environment in New Jersey. This long-term contract position will focus on strengthening secure, reliable, and scalable cloud services while supporting core identity and collaboration platforms used across the institution. The role is well suited for a hands-on cloud specialist who can balance administration, automation, and troubleshooting in a complex enterprise setting.Responsibilities:• Manage and support the Microsoft 365 environment to maintain dependable collaboration, messaging, and productivity services.• Administer cloud and identity platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Okta to ensure stable access and secure operations.• Develop and maintain automation scripts and configuration workflows using PowerShell and tools such as Ansible to improve efficiency and consistency.• Monitor platform performance, availability, and security, then address incidents and service issues in a timely manner.• Partner with technical teams and business stakeholders to implement cloud solutions that align with institutional needs and security expectations.• Investigate authentication, access, and integration issues across enterprise applications and resolve them with sound technical judgment.• Produce reports, system documentation, and operational records to support audits, service management, and ongoing platform improvement.• Contribute to cloud transformation and modernization efforts by recommending practical enhancements for resilience, scalability, and governance.• At least 3 years of experience in cloud engineering, cloud administration, or a closely related infrastructure role.• Hands-on expertise with Microsoft 365 Enterprise administration in an enterprise environment.• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Active Directory, including identity and access management concepts.• Experience supporting authentication and access platforms such as Okta and related federated identity services.• Proficiency in scripting or automation, including PowerShell and infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible.• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and multi-platform cloud environments.• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
