Come join our family!SummaryThis position takes direction from the Chef to prepare and plate food according to the menu and order specifications while maintaining sanitation standards and an organized workstation. This position utilizes kitchen equipment and performs various duties as assigned.Essential Function Duties and Responsibilities(Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents of this class.)Set up and stock food prep. stations with all necessary suppliesMust obtain a ServSafe certification and stay current with recertifications as necessary; complies with all food and beverage regulations.Prepare food for service (chopping vegetables, cooking main dishes, or preparing sauces)Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff or as assigned by the ChefReports to, and follows, the Chef's instructions.Maintains a clean and orderly station.Cleans/sanitizes all equipment used including, but not limited to, tables, shelves, fryers, sauté burners, ovens, flat-top griddles, refrigeration equipment, etc.Stocks inventory appropriatelyEnsures that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashionEnsures that kitchen operational procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulationsMaintains a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customersAvailable to work nights, weekends, and holidaysReports on low inventory levels and supplies needed to perform daily operationsPerforms portion control and minimizes waste to keep costs within forecasted rangeEnsures quality and freshness of ingredients and productsEnsures products are kept at proper temperaturesMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferredSix (6) months related experience and/or training as a cook; or equivalent combination of education and experience is requiredSpecial Qualifications/PreferencesCurrent Certifications in the following, or ability to obtain certifications within 6 months of hire unless otherwise specified. Must present original certifications or copies of both sides of all certifications.ServSafe Food Handler Certification (must obtain within 30 days of hire)Valid State of Florida Driver's License with a good driving recordPension Plan: Provided through the Florida Retirement System (FRS).
