Position: Commercial Generator Install and Service Technician
Location: Buffalo and surrounding areas, NY
Compensation: $30.00-$50.00 per hour
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking a full-time, experienced Commercial Generator Install & Service Technician to join our team. This role is ideal for a self-motivated, dependable technician with a strong electrical background who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial generator systems, ensuring reliable power solutions for our customers. You’ll work on a wide range of generator sizes and applications while upholding the highest safety and quality standards.
You’ll be a key member of our Commercial Energy Products team, joining a company with a long-standing history in the energy industry and a strong commitment to safety, training, and employee growth.
What You Will Do
Install, wire, and commission commercial generator systems in accordance with project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and electrical codes
Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and service on standby and prime power generators
Diagnose and repair electrical, control, and mechanical issues related to generator systems, transfer switches, and associated equipment
Conduct load bank testing and other performance diagnostics
Troubleshoot electrical circuits, controls, wiring, and components to ensure proper operation
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure proper integration of generators into existing electrical systems
Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
Complete accurate service reports, inspection records, and test documentation
Communicate professionally with customers regarding system performance, recommendations, and service needs
Follow all electrical codes, safety regulations, and company safety policies
Stay current with industry standards, electrical code updates, and emerging generator technologies
Assist with installation projects for the Commercial Energy Products team, including EV chargers and Battery/Energy Storage Systems.

What You Will Need
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred
3+ years of commercial electrical or generator installation/service experience
Knowledge of NEC, electrical regulations, and safety standards
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams
Experience with transfer switches, controls, and generator diagnostics preferred
Basic mechanical and pipe-fitting knowledge a plus
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to manage time effectively and work independently
Professional, reliable, and safety-focused work ethic
Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 100 pounds
Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions
