Cost Analyst

Position SummaryThe Cost Analyst will support the Senior Cost Manager in implementing project cost control processes for major capital projects. This role is responsible for collecting, validating, and reporting cost data and supporting financial tracking throughout the design lifecycle. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to grow into broader cost engineering responsibilities within an EPC environment.Key ResponsibilitiesCost Tracking & ReportingAssist in developing and maintaining project cost reports, forecasts, and trend logs.Update budget vs. actuals, commitments, and forecasting data on a routine basis.Support preparation of monthly cost reports, including variance narratives and KPI summaries.Maintain cost coding structures and ensure accurate data entry into cost management systems.Change ManagementTrack potential changes, design evolution impacts, and scope adjustments.Support the Senior Cost Manager in preparing Change Order documentation.Maintain the change log and ensure changes are reflected in forecasts.Procurement & Contract SupportAssist with cost review of subconsultant and equipment supplier proposals.Validate invoices, pay applications, and commitment tracking.Coordinate with accounting, discipline leads, and procurement to maintain accurate cost data.Data Management & SystemsMaintain organized, auditable cost files and documentation.Utilize project cost systems (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Prism, EcoSys, or similar tools).Support implementation of cost controls processes and continuous improvement initiatives.QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or related field.3-5 years of relevant experience in cost engineering, estimating, project controls, or project accountingSkills & CompetenciesStrong analytical and quantitative skills with a high attention to detail.Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with Power BI, databases, or cost management software is a plus.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to work collaboratively with engineering, procurement, and accounting teams.Eagerness to learn cost engineering practices in a fast-paced project environment.Work EnvironmentHybridWorks closely with design leads, project managers, procurement, and finance teams.Supports a complex, multi-disciplinary design project within an EPC organization.
