Assistant Meat Manager

Duties and Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales SupportMaintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a focus on fast, friendly service.Assist customers with product suggestions, special orders, and food preparation ideas.Utilize suggestive selling and additional sales techniques through phone, intercom, and direct customer interactions.Department Operations & Meat ProcessingTrim, cut, wrap, tray, and display meat products according to standards.Build and maintain meat and seafood displays; rotate product and discard outdated or spoiled items.Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the work area, equipment, and overall department.Implement correct product preparation techniques and operate all related equipment, including pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, grinders, saws, saw blades, cubers, and safety cutters.Ensure proper temperature maintenance during all stages of product preparation, display, and storage.Support the operation and maintenance of the meat cooler, freezer, and butcher block as applicable.Follow department standards regarding handling of quick-sale items.Leadership, Training & Team SupportAssist with scheduling, supervising, training, and assigning duties to department employees.Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet service and production needs.Provide training on store policies, sales techniques, and record-keeping procedures.Identify and develop high-potential employees for advancement opportunities.Possess working knowledge of duties performed by all department employees and support where needed.Understand and follow all opening and closing procedures.Inventory, Merchandising & Product QualityControl inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, freshness, and quality, following division directives.Stock and rotate product; maintain and organize meat coolers and storage areas.Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.Enforce proper code-dating procedures for all department products.Ensure accurate pricing, proper signage, and compliance with Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) requirements.Comply with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, company policies, and code-dating standards.Receiving, Documentation & ReportingPerform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders using invoices, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating product.Adhere to temperature guidelines, storage expectations, and proper packaging techniques for all incoming product.Accurately complete, maintain, and monitor required logs and paperwork, including daily log sheets, Production Charts, Meat Grinding Logs, Sales and Labor reports, and other documentation.Assist with preparing sales and inventory reports and support physical inventory taken every four weeks.Safety, Compliance & Cost ManagementMaintain compliance with all workplace safety rules, regulations, and company guidelines.Control shrink and manage department costs effectively.Maintain working knowledge of company policies as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.J-18808-Ljbffr
