As an Elementary School Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting our students' academic, social, and emotional growth.What You'll Do:Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of middle school students with disabilities.Provide direct instruction and support in various academic subjects, utilizing research-based instructional practices and differentiated strategies.Collaborate effectively with general education teachers, parents, support staff, and administrators to ensure a cohesive and supportive educational experience for students.Foster a positive and engaging classroom environment that promotes student independence, self-advocacy, and a love of learning.Employ effective classroom management techniques to maximize student engagement and foster a safe, respectful learning environment.Integrate technology effectively to enhance instruction and provide accessible learning opportunities.Actively participate in team meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.Contribute to the extra-curricular life of the school through coaching or supporting student activities.What You'll Bring:Required: Valid Michigan teaching certificate with a K-12 Special Education endorsement.Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of Special Education principles, practices, and legal procedures.Proven ability to understand, evaluate, and teach Special Education content, processes, and skills aligned with Michigan's curriculum frameworks.Successful experience working with ability-level students with diverse learning needs.Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships.A commitment to collaboration and working effectively within a team environment.Experience integrating technology into instruction to enhance learning.Experience with specific special education software and assistive technologies.Training or experience in specific evidence-based interventions.Special consideration is given to candidates with certifications documenting their skills in working with students with emotional regulation challenges.Reports To: Elementary School PrincipalOur Commitment to You:Boyne City Public Schools offers a supportive and collaborative work environment, opportunities for professional growth, and the chance to make a real difference in our students' lives.
