Job Title: Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Position Type: Interim / ContractDuration: 3–6 months (with potential extension)Schedule: Hybrid – Onsite Tuesday–Thursday, Remote Monday & FridayHours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (with anticipated overtime as needed)Start Date: No later than May 1 Position Overview The organization is seeking an experienced Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide senior financial leadership during a period of transition. This role requires a hands-on finance executive with strong nonprofit experience who can immediately step in, maintain stability, and partner with executive leadership, the board, and external stakeholders.The ideal candidate brings a strong executive presence, deep grants expertise, and the ability to lead through systems and organizational change with a collaborative, positive mindset. Key Responsibilities Serve as the senior financial leader, providing strategic and operational oversight for all finance functionsEnsure timely and accurate financial reporting, cash flow management, and adherence to all deadlinesOversee city, state, and federal grants, including compliance and reporting for major public fundersMaintain and manage financial activity within the PassPort system (required)Partner with auditors and support audit-related activities and corrective actionsLead preparation and presentation of financial reports and board packets (distributed 1–2 weeks prior to meetings)Present financial updates: Quarterly to the Board of DirectorsMonthly to the Finance CommitteeSupport benefits-related financial oversight, including pensions and 401(k) plansGuide the organization through an active financial systems transition (Great Plains to Blackbaud)Collaborate closely with executive leadership and consultants on financial decision-making and restructuring initiativesLead, engage, and support the finance team, fostering collaboration and clear communication Minimum Qualifications (Must-Haves) Minimum 5 years of experience as a CFO (executive-level experience required; Controller-only backgrounds will not be considered)Significant nonprofit financial leadership experienceStrong grants management experience, including government fundingHands-on experience with PassPort or equivalent government funding systemsPrior experience working directly with boards and finance committeesProven ability to step into transitional environments and “hit the ground running”Advanced Excel skillsAbility to make thoughtful recommendations while aligning with organizational decisions Preferred Qualifications (Pluses) Experience leading or supporting a financial system implementation or migrationComfort navigating organizations with frequent leadership transitionsBackground working with complex funding structures and large public funders Leadership & Culture Fit Engaging, collaborative leader who actively partners with teamsVisible and approachable executive presencePatient, positive, and steady during periods of transitionNot a “head-down only” operator — values relationship-building and communication Finance Department Structure Chief Financial OfficerVP of Budgeting & Financial AnalysisControllerAVP of Grants & Contracts(Each role has direct reports)#INAPR2026
