To assist our guests on their path to recovery, we are dedicated to offering the greatest continuum of care and services, and we look for experts who share this commitment.The Staff Psychiatrist is responsible for the psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing clinical management of individuals receiving services at Alina Lodge. The Staff Psychiatrist provides assessment of mental health status, establishes diagnoses, develops and oversees treatment planning, manages psychiatric medications, and evaluates patient progress. Clinical services are provided in coordination with the multidisciplinary treatment team and under the clinical oversight of the Director of Psychiatric Medicine.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESConduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including clinical interviews, psychological tests, and physical examinations.Diagnose a variety of mental health disorders using evidence-based criteria.Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient evaluations.Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications to treat mental health disorders.Provide psychotherapy (e.g., cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy) to patients when necessary.Monitor the progress of treatment and adjust interventions as needed.Emphasize preventative care and disease management.Complete psychiatric assessment on new guests as well as ongoing follow-up.Serve as a consultant to staff in reference to mental health questions or concerns that arise within the agency.Respond to all duties in a clinically appropriate and timely manner.Participate in the approval process for new and potential guests.Assist in coverage of nighttime "on-call" position.Weekends and holidays may be required as part of essential job duties.REGULATORY & COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIESAdhere to all applicable State and Federal regulations, including NJAC 10:161A, NJAC 10:37 (as applicable), HIPAA, and 42 CFR Part 2.Maintain compliance with confidentiality standards governing behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment.Participate in quality assurance, utilization review, and performance improvement initiatives.Cooperate with licensing inspections, audits, and accreditation surveys.Maintain safe and compliant prescribing practices consistent with federal and state-controlled substance laws.SKILLS AND COMPETENCIESIn-depth knowledge and expertise involving the diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders.Experience with medication management, including psychotropic medications, and familiarity with evidence-based psychiatric treatments.Compassionate and empathetic communication style.Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Strong interpersonal skillsAbility to work and communicate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.Strong ethical standards and adherence to confidentiality.Ability to set priorities.Flexibility with work schedule when necessary.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
