Financial Compliance and Reporting ConsultantLocation: Phoenix, AZ, 85007 (Schedule 3 days in office)6 Months ContractJob DescriptionIn a consultative role, under the direction of a senior accounting leader, this position provides advanced financial and governmental accounting expertise to internal departments and stakeholders. The primary focus of this role is to review multiple bank accounts, advise on reconciliation procedures, and establish checks and balances for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). The role requires strong knowledge of governmental accounting standards, policies, risk management, and process improvement.Major Responsibilities / Essential FunctionsEvaluate and review multiple bank accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance. Advise management on reconciliation procedures, oversight mechanisms, and risk mitigation.ACFR Checks & Balances:Establish and monitor critical checks and balances for ACFR compilation, ensuring financial schedules align with ACFR, SEFA, and Single Audit guidelines.GASB & Governmental Accounting Expertise:Act as a subject matter expert, researching and implementing new governmental accounting standards. Ensure all financial reports adhere to GAAP and GASB.Internal Controls & Process Improvement:Provide financial expertise to management and external partners, advising on internal controls, reconciliation oversight, and ACFR reporting procedures.KnowledgeGAAP and GASB standardsFederal, State, and local laws related to ACFR, SEFA, and Single AuditBest practices in accounting trends, reconciliation, and internal controlsSkillsAdvanced use of automated accounting systemsConsulting, problem-solving, and recommending solutions proactivelyRecommending policy revisionsAbilitiesWork independently as a trusted consultantManage ACFR deliverables and financial evaluationsBuild effective relationships with stakeholdersRequired Education, Licensure, Certification:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldMinimum of five years of accounting experienceJ-18808-Ljbffr
