Safety and Security Analyst

Job Description Position SummaryThe Safety and Security Analyst support the airline/airport's integrated Safety Management System (SMS) and Security Program by analyzing operational data, monitoring regulatory compliance, and assisting with incident investigations. This role helps ensure the organization maintains the highest levels of safety and security in accordance with FAA, TSA, ICAO, and company requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesSafety & Security Data AnalysisCollect, analyze, and interpret data from safety reports (e.g., ASAP, ASRS, SMS reporting tools/WBAT).Conduct thorough safety data analysis to identify trends, hazards, and assess the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategiesPrepare monthly/quarterly safety and security dashboards for leadershipServe as the TSA-designated Aircraft Operator Security Coordinator (AOSC), acting as the primary contact for communications & implementation of Security Directives as required by TSA.Ensure compliance with all security-related duties, reviewing the airline's security program and relevant Security Directives.Conduct security audits to assess and ensure airline regulatory compliance.Develop Security Training curriculum for Ground Security Coordinators (GSC)Tasks Includes developing and administering security awareness programs, conducting background checks, fingerprints & urine collection and managing security clearances.Managing the issuance of Company IDs as outlined in the approved TSA ID Media Plan to authorize personnel and visitors.Manage access to Known Crew Member (KCM) program & TSA Vetting Portal.Regulatory ComplianceMonitor compliance with FAA (14 CFR Parts 5, 121, 135) safety requirements and TSA (49 CFR Parts 1542/1544) security programs.Assist with internal audits related to IOSA, OSHA, TSA, and company safety/security procedures.Help maintain documentation required for regulatory inspections or audits.Incident & Event InvestigationSupport investigations into safety and security events including:Aircraft ground incidentsSecurity breaches or suspicious activityCabin safety eventsHazard reports or near&#x2011;missesConduct root&#x2011;cause analysis and track corrective/preventive actions.Prepare investigation summaries and recommendations.Operational SupportParticipate in SMS activities: safety risk assessments, safety assurance reviews, and safety promotion campaigns.Assist with airport security compliance programs including access control, badge audits, and vulnerability assessments.Support emergency response drills, table&#x2011;top exercises, and business continuity planning.Communication & TrainingCreate safety and security bulletins, alerts, presentations, and awareness materials.Provide data-driven recommendations for policy updates or training enhancements.Collaborate with Flight Operations, Inflight, Maintenance, and Ground Operations on safety/security initiatives.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Aviation Safety, Aviation Security, Aeronautical Science, Criminal Justice, or related field (or equivalent experience).1–3+ years of experience in aviation safety, airport/airline security, compliance, risk analysis, or SMS support.Working knowledge of FAA and TSA regulations, SMS principles, and aviation reporting systems.Strong analytical skills; proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience with aviation safety systems (e.g., WBAT, AQD, Intelex, or SMS Pro).Familiarity with ASAP, FOQA, LOSA, or other aviation safety programs.Professional certifications such as:ASQ, ASP, CSP (safety)CASP, ACE&#x2011;Security, or AAAE certificationsICAO or FAA SMS trainingPrior experience in airline or airport operations, aviation security, or emergency management.
