Login to Apply Child Nutrition, Payroll Manager JOB STATUS: OPEN POSTING DATE: 05/11/2026 CLOSING DATE: 05/18/2026 11:59 PM POSTING NUMBER: 00007814 LOCATION: Child Nutrition POSITION TITLE: Child Nutrition, Payroll Manager JOB DESCRIPTION Primary Purpose To assist in the administration of the payroll functions of the Child Nutrition Department in a manner that preserves confidentiality and projects a professional image of the department. RESPONSIBILITIES Major Responsibilities and Duties Respond to employee inquiries and State and Government Agencies regarding payroll-related items in an accurate, professional and confidential manner. Accurately record and submit employee payroll. Assist/support non-exempt personnel in time clock procedures. Verify that absences for eligible employees have been reported through the Employee Management System Notify Human Resources of any absences not reported properly so that they may be entered manually in the Employee Management System. Enter absences for eligible employees in the payroll system. Ensure that eligible employees have the accurate and applicable number of local sick days, state personal days. Monitor the number of absences taken by each employee to ensure that absences taken do not exceed the number earned. Assist with tracking FMLA/TDL Track employee overtime. Send daily emails on absences. Assist with all personnel files for the office Complete 6 hours of professional development hours for USDA and district requirement. Attendance at work is an essential function. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee. EXPERIENCE: QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Education/Certification: High School Diploma or G.E.D. 30 credited college hours or five years of experience as an administrative assistant or similar office experience preferred Valid Texas driver's license Eligible for coverage under the District's vehicle insurance program Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of payroll and accounting procedures including federal and state laws pertaining to the process Operation of 10 key calculator Proficiency in typing, word processing and file maintenance Working knowledge of basic office procedures and the operation of common office equipment and machines Ability to keep abreast of new rules and regulations related to payroll and accounting procedures Ability to communicate effectively and courteously OTHER INFORMATION Equipment Used Computer for specialized data entry, word processing and spreadsheet applications; printer, typewriter, copy machine and calculator. Working Conditions Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over), pushing (intermittent), reaching above shoulders, use of fingers, walking (intermittent), standing (intermittent), specific visual requirements, using computer and reading small print. Excessive noise (sealer, intermittent), unusual fatigue factors, constant concentration, data entry.
