Technical Manager - Wastewater (Boston)

We are supporting a leading, employee-owned environmental engineering consultancy in the appointment of an Industrial Wastewater Technical Manager to play a key role in delivering complex industrial water and wastewater projects across the U.S. This is a senior-level position suited to an experienced engineer who can combine strong technical expertise with leadership, client engagement, and team development.Role OverviewYou will act as a technical leader within the industrial water practice, responsible for driving high-quality project delivery, mentoring engineers, and contributing to the growth of key client accounts. This role requires someone comfortable operating at both a technical and strategic level, with the ability to influence project outcomes and support business development.Key ResponsibilitiesLead technical delivery of industrial water and wastewater projects, including design, upgrades, and new system implementationOversee capacity assessments, process evaluations, and basis of design developmentSupport pilot testing, commissioning, and start-up activitiesProvide technical direction and mentorship to engineering teamsMaintain and develop strong client relationships to drive repeat businessSupport proposals, project pursuits, and account developmentContribute to technical publications, presentations, and industry engagementEnsure quality, innovation, and continuous improvement across project deliveryCandidate RequirementsMaster's degree in Engineering (PE required; advanced degree preferred)10-15 years of experience within an engineering consultancy environmentStrong background in industrial water/wastewater treatment, particularly biological processesExperience working with industrial clients (e.g., food & beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical, data centers, or similar sectors)Proven ability to lead projects, mentor teams, and deliver high-quality technical workStrong communication skills and track record of technical contributionIf you're an experienced industrial water professional looking to step into a leadership role with real influence and ownership, get in touch for a confidential discussion.
