Cleans, stocks and maintains supplies for the patient unit.Major Job FunctionsThe following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Assists in the admission of patients to the unit to include orientation to the unit, hospital routine and patient care equipmentResponds to needs of patients with direct assistance when able or by reporting patient needs to the appropriate personAssists with implementation of nursing plan of care by carrying out delegated patient care tasksAssists in maintaining patient safety to include the proper use of equipment and suppliesAccess to medication/supply room to retrieve patient care items for patient care useMaintains a well-stocked, clean patient environmentActively participates in cost containment and assists in accurate charging for patient servicesParticipates in educational and Performance Improvement activitiesMaintains (if needed) 4 of NAII skills per unit competencyPerforms waived testing per unit competencyActively demonstrates responsibility concerning customer satisfaction, patient throughput and hospital functional capacity through compliance with the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP)Other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:Education And Formal TrainingHigh school graduate or equivalent requiredNursing Assistant certification requiredCurrent registration with North Carolina Division of Facility ServicesWork ExperienceNoneKnowledge, Skills, And Abilities RequiredExcellent guest relations skillsVerbal and written skills requiredAbility to read EnglishAbility to accept supervision from a multidisciplinary teamFlexible in approach to work tasks and schedulesAble to grasp new skills and techniquesHas basic knowledge of age-specific considerations for patients servedHas basic computer skillsPhysical RequirementsAbility to work variable shiftsAbility to turn and lift patientsMuch standing, walking, bending and liftingPossess visual and auditory acuity for observing patientsPosition involves exposure to blood and body secretions and may involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious materialMust be able to lift 35 poundsRequired Licenses And CertificationsBLS - American Heart Association, CNA - NC Nursing Assistant RegistryCape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
