City Clerk Part-time

JOB SUMMARY The City Clerk performs a variety of complex administrative duties to manage, coordinate, and direct the activities of the Elected Officials of City and acts as the liaison for the Mayor and City Council to citizens and City staff. The Clerk provides support to the Front Office. JOB DESCRIPTION The City Clerk will be visible, accessible, and serve as an ambassador of the City to the community, ensuring that the public has access to timely information. In this regard, the City Clerk is expected to remain impartial, unbiased, even handed, and apolitical. Strong interpersonal skills, a calm demeanor under pressure, and a customer service orientation are critical to the role of the City Clerk. The next City Clerk will understand the “public facing” role of the City Clerk’s office and work with and respond to a highly spirited engaged community in a welcoming, professional manner. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Ability to Learn NexGen software. Able to handle citations from police department and input them into computer software. Be present on every court date. Have knowledge about all permits that come into the City Hall. Checking mailbox daily and placing it in designated departments. The clerk is responsible for all monies collected daily. The clerk is responsible for accepting payments and collecting all water bill payments and putting them into deposit receipt book daily before bank closes at end of day. Verifying that all transactions are applied to the correct account. Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in office administration is a plus - Previous experience in a clerical or administrative role is preferred - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Proficiency in using computer software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite - Ability to handle confidential information with discretion - Strong customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally with the public - Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively Note: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
