Naval Architect
Lay, Pitman & Associates (LP&A) is seeking a motivated entry‑level Naval Architect to join our long‑established naval architecture and marine engineering firm. Since 1959, LP&A has built a reputation for designing unique, high‑quality vessels that meet a wide range of client needs, including passenger vessels, research vessels, workboats and specialty marine projects.This role is ideal for a recent graduate who is eager to learn, grow professionally and contribute to the design and modification of marine vessels. Applicants must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.ResponsibilitiesThe Naval Architect will support a variety of engineering and design tasks, including:Performing stability calculations and structural calculations for marine vesselsAssisting with vessel design and draftingSupporting the development or modification of vessel plans, specifications, and engineering documentationCollaborating with senior engineers on technical studies, analyses and design solutionsLearning and applying relevant regulatory standards and industry practicesTravel required: Participating in ship checks, surveys or fieldwork as neededQualificationsBS in Naval Architecture or Ocean EngineeringStrong willingness and ability to learn new skills, tools and engineering methodsAbility to work both independently and collaborativelyStrong communication and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks and deadlinesSoftware SkillsCandidates should be familiar with or able to learn:AutoCADMicrosoft Word and ExcelGHS (General HydroStatics)About LP&ALay, Pitman & Associates has been a trusted Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering firm since 1959.
