CNC Programmer 1st Shift

Job Description CNC Programmer - 1st ShiftMonday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.POSITION SUMMARYThe CNC Programmer will be responsible for programming commercial factory machines (vertical milling). This position will read blueprints and CAD files to understand the dimensions of the given component specification in order to properly create and modify CNC programs and set up machines to run new or existing programs. CORE FUNCTIONSCreate and modify CNC programs using IGES and/or Parasolids files in MasterCam software for machining tool patterns for building fiberglass production molds.Design and build pattern structures ("bucks") to be machined. This involves laying out and cutting various materials and working with various tools and materials such as saws, sanders, grinders, glue guns and others.Responsible for machine setup, including selection and setup of tools and fixturing for new or existing programs.Provide machine maintenance support, including software.Create and modify CNC programs. Read electronic technical drawings (CAD) and set up new or to modify existing CNC machine programs to meet part specifications. Responsible for machine setup and operating (CNC vertical milling machines & auxiliary equipment). Setup tools and fixtures for new or existing programs. Provide maintenance support as needed, including assistance to maintenance technicians and support personnel for troubleshooting machine downtime.Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following safety protocols and company standardsHelp maintenance technicians for troubleshooting machine downtime, including software.Troubleshoot various problems with computer, translation, and milling machine. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTSEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma required. Technical trade education or associates degree is preferred. 3+ years of related experience and or training is required, or a combination of education and experience. SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIESThis position has no supervisory responsibilities. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThis position is subject to Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls require exertion of force greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work. Physical ActivitiesThis position is subject to the following physical activities: balancing, kneeling, standing, walking, grasping, talking, and hearing. Visual Acuity The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes. Working ConditionsThe worker is subject to environmental conditions, including heat, noise, vibration, and hazards from a production-based work environment.
