Chesterfield Employment Services (CES) creates opportunities for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities to become valued employees in the community, improving their quality of life. Chesterfield Employment Services (CES) is currently seeking a Transportation Assistant to provide administrative and technical support to our transit operations who arrange transportation services to and from work for those that are being supported with employment services. Each day presents itself differently!Minimum Education And ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED (bachelor's degree preferred); three years of experience in driving a transit vehicle or in customer service or administrative support work in a public transit environment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.Required Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesWorking knowledge of safety regulations and laws pertaining to vehicle operations; of defensive driving techniques; of vehicle maintenance and repair practices. Ability to operate a computerized transportation routing system; to safely operate a passenger van; to exercise judgment in emergency situations; to interact with a variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds and of varying ages; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Internet Explorer, and Outlook preferred.Additional RequirementsCurrent valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, records must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.DutiesDuties Include But Are Not Limited To The Following Schedules transportation for 180+ individuals to and from employment sites; Assists in conducting and maintaining new driver and in-service training; schedules required training; Answers phones, receives information from customers and disseminates information into the scheduling software; Prepares reports on activities and operations related to vehicle maintenance, trip activity, and driver training; Assists in performing vehicle inspections for needed repairs, maintenance and cleaning; Responds to problems in the field such as equipment failures and vehicle accidents; Drives multi-passenger vehicles as needed; and Performs other work as required.ShiftMonday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.Work LocationMental Health Support ServicesChesterfield County is an Equal Opportunity Employer Committed to Workforce Diversity, Equity, and InclusionFor Information On County Benefits, View Employee Benefits Summary.01What is your highest level of education completed?
