Together, we can build great thingsPosition SummaryMcCarthy Building Companies is looking for skilled Journeyman Plumbers for our water projects. The ideal candidate is local to the Mesa, AZ area.McCarthy is looking for team members that have a proven commitment to safety and can be committed to a full-time schedule.ResponsibilitiesComprehensive knowledge of multiple Plumbing systems applications: Waste and Vent, Storm, Domestic Water, Compressed Air, Condensate Drain, Natural Gas, Process Utilities, Fixtures and Pumps.Comprehensive knowledge of multiple Plumbing material applications: Steel/carbon pipe, Copper Pipe, PVC/PCV pipe, Poly Pipe applications, Stainless Steel pipe and Aluminum pipe.Receives direct supervision and performs technical responsibilities.Coordinates own tasks with a specific range of responsibilities under established procedures.Contributes to a team under general supervision of an experienced professional or manager.Skilled specialist that demonstrates reliable judgment in resolving issues and making recommendations.Promote a positive learning environment in mentoring and directing of apprentices.Understand and implement lockout/tag-out procedures for safe and secure task(s)Perform testing, inspecting, and recording for all rough-in installations as required by building codes and project specifications.Maintain all tools and equipment in serviceable condition.Use materials and other resources conservatively to promote project success and profitability.Participate in the orientation of new partners on your job site.Install all systems and products per code, specifications, submittals, and contract documents.Provide applicable input promptly to maintain current “As-Built” record drawings.Demonstrates understanding of McCarthy Safety Guidelines and Procedures.Minimum 4 years’ experience.$1.00 increase to base pay if licensed.Qualifications5+ years experience in commercial plumbing preferredAbility to pass a pre-employment plumbing examExperience with copper, PVC and cast-iron installationsExperience with refrigerant piping and medical gas preferredMed Gas Certification preferred but not requiredAbility to read and understand construction drawings and specificationsAbility to accurately layout building systemsManagement and ability to train apprentice tradesmenAbility to create a safe working environment, and understands OSHA regulationsAbility to take off and communicate tool and material requirements to the supervisorAbility to set up and perform plumbing testsAbility to identify potential issues during installation and elevate them to Foreman/Gen ForemanBasic understanding of IPC and UPC building codesMust have own hand toolsMust have reliable transportation to job-siteSelf-motivated with the ability to work well with othersGood problem-solving skillsPay rate is determined on current level of knowledge and experienceMcCarthy is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, including disability and protected veteran status.
