We strongly believe that our diversity is a key driver of innovation and performance.PurposeWe are seeking a Software Developer to join our team in Winnersh UK, supporting long-term Government projects.This role requires strong Java fundamentals and the ability to deliver clean, secure, maintainable back-end code within a structured, compliance-driven environment. You will work closely with senior engineers and technical leads to develop, enhance, and maintain mission-critical biometric and identity systems that directly support UK public safety operations.Please note: Candidates must be eligible for SC and NPPV3 clearance, requiring five years' continuous UK residency; criminal convictions may impact approval.Key MissionsKey ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop and maintain secure back-end services using Java and Spring BootBuild and maintain RESTful APIs aligned to clean architecture and secure coding standardsWrite high-quality, maintainable, production-ready code that meets functional and non-functional requirementsContribute to requirements analysis, effort estimations and technical design discussionsApply software development best practices including version control, peer reviews, build processes and testingOptimise application performance and support bug fixes, enhancements and system improvementsWork with PostgreSQL and related database technologies to ensure data integrity and efficiencyReuse and integrate existing frameworks and components where appropriateDocument technical solutions clearly through code comments and supporting documentationDeliver software in line with security and compliance standardsCollaborate effectively within a small engineering team and support junior developers where neededProfile & Other InformationRequirements2–3 years professional experience in Java development with a strong understanding of core Java principles and object-oriented programmingExperience with Spring Boot and REST APIsExperience working with PostgreSQL or relational databasesFamiliarity with version control tools such as GitComfortable participating in live coding discussionsFull UK Driving LicenceMust have lived in the UK continuously for the past 5 yearsPreferred QualificationsComputer Science degree or equivalent practical experienceExperience working on government or regulated projectsKnowledge of tools such as SonarQube, Nexus, Bitbucket, or similarExperience mentoring junior engineersWhat We Offer25 days annual leave + bank holidaysGroup Personal Pension with employer contributionPrivate Medical InsuranceLife AssuranceEmployee Assistance ProgrammeStable, long-term project roadmap extending through 2028Structured engineering environment with clear technical ownershipWorking ModelLocation: Winnersh Triangle, UK with access to free parkingCore hours: Monday to Friday 9:00am – 5:00pmSecurity Clearance is required for this role; IDEMIA will sponsor and manage the application process at no cost to the candidate, provided they meet the eligibility criteria and are willing to submit the necessary information.By choosing to work at IDEMIA, you will join a unique tech company, offering a wide range of growth opportunities.
