With integrity and a commitment to unsurpassed quality at the core of our work ethic, Broughton is poised for significant growth and is seeking people with a real passion for excellence, hard work, and superior attention to detail to join our team.Position SummaryThe Project Engineer supports field execution by ensuring accurate documentation of work in place and providing reliable data to the Project Manager for reporting and forecasting. The Project Engineer also supports both the Superintendent and Project Manager by maintaining accurate records and ensuring the project story matches actual work in place. This role requires significant time in the field and frequent travel to active project sites.Key ResponsibilitiesProject AdministrationReview and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contractsPrepare, track, and maintain submittals, RFIs, and change ordersMaintain organized project logs, daily reports, and correspondenceAssist with schedule updates using tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft ProjectProduction Support & DocumentationTrack and document daily installed quantities as directed by the Superintendent (CY, tons, LF, etc.)Ensure all work in place is measured and recorded accuratelyMaintain production logs that align with daily reports, tickets, and invoicesProvide daily and weekly production data to the Project ManagerIdentify inconsistencies between installed work, tickets, and reported quantities and report to the Project ManagerDoes not direct field crews or make production decisions; all field direction remains with the SuperintendentField Engineering & Quality ControlProvide technical support to the Superintendent and field crews for layout, formwork, reinforcement, and concrete placementAssist with inspections and testing (slump, air content, cylinder breaks)Review concrete mix designs for compliance with project requirementsPerform quantity takeoffs and assist in tracking material usageCoordination & CommunicationCoordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and inspection agenciesAttend and document project meetings, including OAC and progress meetingsSupport communication with owners, architects, and engineers to resolve technical issueCost & Forecast SupportSupport the Project Manager in cost-to-complete forecasting using documented production dataAssist in maintaining alignment between installed quantities, cost reporting, and invoicesHelp identify gaps between work in place and recorded costsAssist in tracking and processing subcontractor and supplier invoicesSafetySupport enforcement of the company safety program and OSHA complianceParticipate in pre-task planning and jobsite safety activitiesQualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field3–5 years of experience in concrete constructionStrong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specificationsAble to connect field documentation to project cost and reportingDetail-oriented with strong discipline around accurate data captureCommunicates clearly and escalates issues through the proper chainOperates with urgency and follows through on commitmentsWorks effectively in a field-driven, fast-paced environmentWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)Willingness and ability to travel extensively (75%+) with extended stays at project sites for weeks or months at a time; valid driver's license requiredPreferredExperience with Procore or similar project management softwareFamiliarity with ComputerEase or similar accounting systemsKnowledge of American Concrete Institute standardsOSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certificationEIT certification or progress toward PE licensureCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive compensation commensurate with experienceHealth insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off (PTO) and company holidaysTravel per diemBroughton Construction is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
