Medical Coder/Biller STL Plastic & Hand Surgery, Inc d/b/a Neuropax Clinic is seeking to add a position to assist with a growing healthcare services company working with our patients and 3rd party payors. Neuropax Clinic is a leader for Chronic Nerve Pain Surgery following operations, accidents and injury. We diagnose and treat patients suffering from nerve compression, post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN), abdominal cutaneous nerve entrapment syndrome (ACNES), diabetic neuropathy (DN), migraine / occipital neuralgia, and chronic pain after falls, car accidents, and surgery. Our goal at Neuropax Clinic is to deliver health care that is personalized and individually designed to give each and every patient the attention and care that they deserve. Neuropax Clinic is growing, adding another surgeon/physician and is seeking a full-time, competent and knowledgeable Billing/CPC certified professional coder. Our new hire will possess a strong knowledge base of E&M level of service, CPC certification, at least 2 years coding experience and great customer service skills. Top Coders are motivated, detail oriented and have outstanding people skills Responsibilities for Medical Coder Assign codes to diagnoses and procedures, using ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases), HCPCS (Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System) and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes Make judicious decisions on which codes to assign in each instance and function to a high level of accuracy Ensure codes are accurate and sequenced correctly in accordance with government and insurance regulations Follow up with the provider on any documentation that is insufficient or unclear Communicate with other clinical staff regarding documentation Advising and training physician and staff on medical coding Search for information in cases where the coding is complex or unusual Receive and review patient charts and documents for accuracy Review the previous day's batch of patient notes for evaluation and coding Ensure that all codes are current and active Performing chart audits Ensuring compliance with medical coding and policies Responsible for working directly with other team members on appeals and denials from insurance payors Will work directly with department manager, physicians and other billing staff Preparing reports as requested by management team (Modified 10/8/2019) This position is full time covering the coding/billing of a dual-location practice. This will not be a telecommunication position; physical work location is at Neuropax facility. Qualifications for Medical Coder Associate’s degree in medical coding or CPC Certification CPC certification is preferred Minimum of 2 years in medical billing/coding Surgery billing background preferred but not mandatory Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology Commitment to a high level of customer service Superior mathematical skills Familiarity with ICD-10 codes and procedures Solid oral and written communication skills Working knowledge of medical jargon and anatomy preferred Sound ability to work with EMR’s (Neuropax currently uses the Athena system- preferred but not required) · Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook Able to work independently and with a team as needed Excellent typing and accuracy Competent use of computer systems and software Ability to talk on phone and communicate verbally __________________________________________________________________________________ Compensation will be commensurate based on experience.
