DescriptionThe Quality Inspector works in conjunction with other QA personnel to support production and test manufactured goods. The Quality Inspector will use basic mechanical inspection tools and gauges to ensure a successful product line.Responsibilities Not Limited To Assurance of material criteria establishmentInspects incoming raw materials and components for conformance verification of traceability to existing inspection plans, customer/VMC drawings, sales and purchase ordersInitiate and manage the MRB (Material Review Board) process In Process Product InspectionInspects the integrity of the product to the order with respect to dimensions, correct components, color, etc.Randomly samples the ‘in process product’ to ensure specifications and dimensional checksIdentifies manufactured products that do not meet quality specificationsDocuments inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste Final Product InspectionEnsures final product meets the specific customer orderReviews the final sign off on the traveler or work order to release the product to shipping.Collects quality data for accept and reject rates in all areasRequirementsKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesBasic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and WordWorking knowledge of calibration of gauges and ability to use calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, etc.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and apply knowledge to inspection of productsKnowledge of ANSI Y14.5 symbologyCompetenciesStrong attention to detailProven verbal and written communication skillsSelf-starter with an independent work approachStrong integrity and ethicsExcellent organizational skills with ability to frequently re- prioritizeMinimum QualificationsHigh School diploma or GED2-3 years of experience in a mechanical inspection environmentExperience with ISO 9001 a plusAt VMC Group we believe in supporting our employees both professionally and personally.
