Tire Technician ClassificationNon-ExemptJob SummaryThe Tire Technician will be responsible for the daily upkeep of the shop, and safety. Ensure tires are in good condition, making repairs/changes as needed. Maintain order, and report any necessary/missing supplies. Prepare vehicles, and equipment for inspection.Essential FunctionsMount and dismount tires.Maintain proper inventory of tires.Fix flats on all units.Daily check for irregular wear and tire flats.Report any tire supplies, or tools needed to foreman or manager.Assist Porter with keeping the shop clean.Complete written vehicle inspection with regards to tire service.Rack/hoist equipment, or vehicles for inspection.Report tools/equipment that are damaged, or missing.Remove inner tube from tire, and inspect tire casing for defects, such as holes/tears.Identify leaks in tires by removing the inner tube.Inspect potential defects in the tire - including the inner tube.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.Clear verbal and written communication skills.Attention to detail.Previous experience as Tire Technician preferred.Travel RequirementsLittle to no travel required.Environmental ConditionsEmployee regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts. May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity. Noise level may be loud at times. Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment. Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment.
