*Job Overview* We are seeking a highly skilled Controller to oversee our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our financial reporting. A management level position responsible for all aspects of the accounting and finance of the company. Coordinate the accounting and financial aspects with the company’s CPA firm to be in GAAP compliance. The Controller will develop a system of financial controls and reporting systems to monitor and report on the company internal monthly cashflow, monthly/quarterly/annual multiple state tax and payroll returns, financial and job costing reports along with individual monthly project budgets. Responsible for execution and overseeing the tasks of monthly billings, accounts receivable and payable, office documentation, and client communications. The Controller should possess good organizational and interpersonal skills with a solid understanding of large-scale construction and development projects. Provide guidance to project accounting staff and coordination with project management teams to include origination and interpretation of budgets and controls through-out the duration of the project. Overall preparation, management, reporting and control for all project accounting, job costing, multi-state payroll and sales tax returns and knowledge of multi-state lien laws and regulations. *Responsibilities* * Maintain the overall company accounting using the ComputerEase construction accounting and management software. * Reconciling accounting system with PROCORE * Enter and monitor all AP, AR and PR activities on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis * Track , execute and insure timely AIA billings, accounts payable and receivable * Lien waiver management for multiple states * Manage and provide guidance for human resources * Maintain paper and digital filing * Procure minor supplies and equipment needed for the daily business activities * Quickly identify and solve problems that may arise * Prepare and analyze job costing and financial reports on a monthly basis in coordination with the Project Management Teams * Ensure all tasks are done on a timely basis and all deadline requirements are met * Prepare payroll along with maintaining and monitoring benefit obligations such as HSA, insurance and 401k accounts * Prepare payroll and sales tax returns for multiple states * Handle multiple tasks simultaneously while providing high level of attention to detail * Analyze and present financial trends, insights and forecasts * Evaluate existing financial systems and workflows for gaps and inefficiencies * Lead the selection and implementation of new or upgraded ERP, project accounting, time tracking, payroll, and back-office systems * Manage Reviews and/or Audits * Prepare timely and accurate financial reports, including balance sheet reconciliations and regulatory reporting. * Conduct thorough account reconciliations and financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. * Implement effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the reliability of financial information. *Qualifications* * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent certification preferred. * Experience in construction accounting roles, with a focus on General Contracting entities being highly desirable. * Strong understanding of GAAP. * Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data effectively and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders. * Familiarity with various accounting software platforms; experience with ERP systems (Computer Ease, Sage View Point). * Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. * Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments while maintaining professional integrity.
