This role focuses on database administration, performance optimization, data modeling, and operational reliability, ensuring high availability and efficiency for mission-critical systems.Target salary is $130-135k. (Please note this position is funded through March 2026 and most likely will push through June 2026).Primary Focus AreasAdminister and optimize AWS-hosted databases.Design and maintain efficient, scalable data models.Monitor and tune database performance.Troubleshoot data integrity and system issues.Ensure reliability, availability, and performance of enterprise data platforms.Key ResponsibilitiesManage enterprise databases hosted on AWS RDS and EC2.Perform database performance tuning (query optimization, indexing, configuration).Design and optimize schemas, tables, indexes, and views.Identify and resolve data inconsistencies and database-related issues.Support database reliability, scalability, and operational health.Monitor database performance using metrics and monitoring tools.QualificationsUS Citizen and active Secret Clearance.Core Technical SkillsCertification 8570 certification in IAT Level II certification or above (Security+ CE, CASP+ CE, CISSP, etc.)Cloud Platforms AWS (RDS, EC2-hosted databases).Database Administration Backup/recovery, configuration, tuning.Performance Optimization Query tuning, index management, execution plan analysis.Data Design Schema and relational data modeling.Monitoring Performance metrics, alerting, and health dashboards.Bachelor's and nine (9) or relevant years of experience in lieu of degree.Problem Solving & ReliabilityStrong troubleshooting skills for data integrity and performance issues.Ability to quickly diagnose root causes of database incidents.Experience maintaining uptime and system stability in production environments.PreferredDatabase Administrator (DBA) transitioning into a cloud-focused engineer role.Backend or platform engineer with deep database tuning experience.Cloud engineer with strong RDS and data performance background.Engineers supporting high-volume or mission-critical systems.Experience with automation or infrastructure-as-code around databases.Exposure to multi-environment (dev/test/prod) database support.Familiarity with enterprise monitoring and alerting platforms.Target salary range $120,001 - $160,000.
