Job Description
Anticipated Salary: Assistant Principal Scale. This is an exempt position.
Time Off Plan: 25 days of PTO. Additional Time Off: MLK Day, Presidents' Day, Spring Break, Memorial Day, Week of July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (Wed-Fri), Winter Break (Dec. 24-Jan. 1).
The Middle School Assistant Academic Administrator directs and coordinates educational and administrative activities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Ensures conformance of educational programs to state and local school board standards through evaluation, development and coordination activities; As needed, researches and implements non-K12 curriculum resources that meet state standards;
Helps articulate the school's mission and vision with the aim of ensuring all stakeholders have a common understanding and are positioned to work cooperatively in order to achieve desired results; Utilizes/relies heavily upon communication technologies and practices that most effectively support a predominantly virtual / remote work environment;
Ensures that the school is meeting the needs of students while complying with local, state, and federal laws regarding special education and other categorical programs (such as Title I, LAP, CTE);
Monitors and drives student pass rates and student engagement by analyzing student performance data weekly, leading data conversations with staff, and aligning instruction decisions with school goals and accountability metrics;
Oversees implementation of virtual instructional model (asynchronous + live support).
Provides clear expectations, ongoing feedback, and follow-up to ensure implementation of instructional and intervention strategies
Supervises and evaluates teaching staff; Manages teacher performance, developing and providing necessary training to support their professional development;
Ensures effective use of school platforms;
Leads strategies to attend student attendance and engagement;
Designs and leads targeted professional development aligned with school goals and school needs;
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree
Valid South Carolina teaching certification
Previous Leadership/ Supervisory Experience
Five (5) years of educational experience OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrable leadership, organizational and time management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes
Ability to problem solve independently and have a high level of organization
Understanding of interdependency of deadlines on multiple projects and able to act to preserve integrity on other people's deadlines
Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 8-4 or as defined by the school
Ability to travel as required (on average once per month and/or approximately 20% of the time) for face to face professional development, student testing, and as required by school
Access to reliable high-speed internet
Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency.
Ability to clear required background check
Preferred Education and/or Experience
Previous experience as an online Educator
Previous administrative experience
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has 30-80 indirect reports. Monitors staff performance and refers performance concerns to Academic Administrator or Director of School Programs for review.

Location
All staff must reside in the state of South Carolina.
This Position Is Remote With The Following Travel Expectations
Attend local student outing 1-2 times per semester
Attend in-person professional development 1-3 times per semester
Attend back-to-school professional development in July (1-3 consecutive days)
Participate in in-person student testing
