In addition to supporting 1P.org projects, you will oversee marketing for our major initiatives, Better Angels and 97percent.The primary focus of your role will be leading development for Better Angels, a nonprofit committed to ending the epidemic of homelessness in Los Angeles by harnessing the power of the Los Angeles community. Better Angels is taking a holistic approach to solving homelessness with community engagement, advocacy, world-class technology, and a strong dose of pragmatism across five critical areas of need: Prevention, Technology, Services, Shelter and Housing. In addition, you will lead development for 97Percent, a nonprofit focused on reducing gun violence by bringing gun owners into the gun safety conversation.Role Overview1P.org is seeking an experienced and innovative Director of Development to lead our fundraising efforts across 1P.org initiatives and nonprofits, including Better Angels and 97Percent, and to secure vital resources for our mission. This role will encompass all aspects of fundraising, including traditional donations, government and foundation grants, corporate partnerships, and gifts in kind. The Director of Development will play a critical role in advancing our organization's financial sustainability and ensuring the successful implementation of our programs.Key ResponsibilitiesFundraising Strategy and Execution:Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that encompasses individual giving, major gifts, corporate partnerships, government and foundation grants, and gifts in kind.Identify, cultivate, and nurture relationships with prospective donors, sponsors, and funding organizations to secure financial support.Donor Cultivation and Stewardship:Create and implement effective donor cultivation and stewardship plans to engage and retain individual donors, corporate partners, and foundations.Develop and maintain a portfolio of key donors, providing personalized outreach and communication to deepen their commitment to Better Angels.Grant Writing and Management:Research, identify, and pursue grant opportunities from foundations, government agencies, and other funding sources.Prepare compelling grant proposals, applications, and reports, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and deadlines.Corporate and Community Partnerships:Cultivate and manage relationships with corporate partners, seeking opportunities for sponsorships, workplace giving, and employee engagement.Collaborate with local businesses, sports teams, and community organizations to develop mutually beneficial partnerships that support Better Angels' mission.Gifts-in-Kind and In-Kind Donations:Develop and oversee strategies for acquiring and managing in-kind donations, including goods and services that directly support our programs and operations.Coordinate donation drives, events, and campaigns to raise awareness and generate in-kind contributions.Budgeting, Tracking and Reporting:Utilize CRM tools to track all relationships and closely monitor pipeline development.Work closely with the VP of Finance, co-founders and executive teams of Better Angels and 97Percent to develop and manage the development budget, tracking revenue goals, expenses, and outcomes.Provide regular and accurate reports on fundraising progress, outcomes, and impact to internal and external stakeholders.Your ExperienceBachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience); Master's degree preferred.Minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a focus on major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships, and gifts in kind.Strong track record of securing and managing diverse funding streams and achieving fundraising targets.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including grant writing and donor communications.Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.Ability to build and nurture relationships with diverse stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, and community partners.Commitment to 1P.org's mission to address intractable problems and a deep passion for ending the epidemic of homelessness in LA.Work EnvironmentWhile this is a remote role, you won't be lonely! You'll collaborate with our smart and motivated internal teammates, volunteers, and pro-bono agencies supporting paid advertising and other initiatives.
