Facilities Maintenance Technician – Part-Time

Position Summary: St. Francis of Assisi Church is seeking a reliable and service-oriented Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the operation, safety, and upkeep of parish buildings and grounds. This part-time role focuses on facility systems, preventative maintenance, repairs, and coordination of services that ensure our church facilities remain safe, functional, and welcoming for parishioners, staff, and visitors. Core Responsibilities Perform routine and preventative maintenance of church facilities, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems Identify, troubleshoot, and complete minor repairs; escalate larger issues as needed Monitor overall facility conditions and proactively address maintenance concerns Support facility readiness for liturgical services, meetings, and parish events Assist with setup and breakdown of spaces as needed to support facility use Facilities & Operations Support Support facility scheduling and space usage coordination Assist with oversight of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment Work with lawn-care, snow-removal, and specialty contractors as needed Support video surveillance systems, access control, and general security measures Assist with planning, preparation, and coordination of future facility improvement or construction projects Grounds & Seasonal Support Assist with monitoring outdoor grounds and building exteriors Support seasonal maintenance needs, including winter preparation and event-related outdoor setup Assist with seasonal indoor and outdoor decorations related to parish events Qualifications Prior experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, or related trade work preferred Comfortable performing light electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical tasks Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and respond to facility needs Physically able to lift, climb ladders, and perform routine maintenance tasks indoors and outdoors Personal Qualities We Value Service-minded and respectful Coachable and willing to learn new systems and procedures Strong communication skills and a professional presence Conduct & Mission AlignmentAs a representative of the Roman Catholic Church, the Facilities Maintenance Technician is expected to conduct themselves in alignment with the mission, values, and standards of the Church and the Diocese of Springfield Code of Conduct.Job Details Job Type: Part-time Work Environment: Parish facilities and grounds, including worship spaces, offices, classrooms, common areas, and outdoor property How to Apply If you enjoy maintaining building systems, supporting safe and functional facilities, and contributing to a mission-driven organization, we invite you to apply.
