A Summer Camp Instructor's primary responsibility is to maintain a fun learning environment for youth climbers enrolled in summer camp. They will facilitate the day-to-day of summer camps in the gym, and may also assist Single Pitch Instructors on outdoor climbing days. Summer Camp Instructors report to the Youth Program Manager or Coordinator. On outdoor days, they also report to, and collaborate with, the Single Pitch Instructor leading the day trip.Core Functions:Demonstrate an inclusive teaching philosophy focused on building confidence, developing skills, and facilitating growth on and off the walls.Implement age-appropriate activities that motivate and engage youth climbers.Teach knot-tying, top-rope climbing and belaying, teamwork, and personal responsibility to a variety of ages.Facilitate games, team-building exercises, and other non-climbing activities.For camps with outdoor days, prepare climbers for outdoor cragging.Minimum Qualifications:Experience teaching or working with youthAbility to acquire and maintain Edgeworks toprope belay certificationExcited to work with youth dailyComfortable working in a team environmentAvailable the week of June 15 to June 19 for instructor trainingAvailable for duration of Summer Camp season (approximately 10 weeks, from June 22 to August 28)Instructors for outdoor camps must be 18+ and able to physically complete hikes of up to 2 miles while carrying personal gearPreferred qualifications:Experience teaching climbing skills to youthOutdoor rock climbing knowledge and experienceLead climbing experienceFirst Aid, CPR, and/or other relevant certificationsEmployment Status and Compensation:Seasonal: June 15 - August 28Interviews for this position will began in mid-AprilPart-time Monday through Friday, 20-35 hrs per weekEdgeworks Membership and Discounts(6.5) Days Sick Leave, accrued each pay period on an annual basisIndustry Benefits/PerksInstructors for outdoor camps must be 18 year of age or older
