Sr Systems Engineer (Linux/Automation)
Overview
In this role you will design, deploy, and sustain secure RHEL infrastructure for DoD/DoW networks, owning the end-to-end automated provisioning pipeline. You’ll drive consistent, compliant deployments using Kickstart, PXE, and Ansible at scale, aligning with defense standards. You will work closely with security and operations teams to enforce RMF and STIG controls, improving reliability and automation. This position offers meaningful impact by shaping secure, automated platform infrastructure in a mission-driven environment.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain automated provisioning for attended/unattended RHEL installations using Kickstart and PXEWrite and optimize Ansible playbooks, roles, and collections to manage large-scale server fleetsCreate Bash automation for initialization tasks, diagnostics, and integration glueEnforce DISA STIGs and RMF through automated remediation scriptsTroubleshoot OS-level performance issues, manage package/patch lifecycles, and update runbooks
Key requirementsBS degree and 8+ years in enterprise Linux administration and engineeringActive Top Secret/SCI clearance (US citizen) and DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II or III certificationExpert Python and Bash scripting for system administrationDeep hands-on Ansible experience (playbooks, vaults, large inventories)Experience designing/troubleshooting automated Kickstart installationsStrong familiarity with NIST controls, RMF, and automated STIG validationPythonBashAnsibleKickstartPXE boot environmentsRed Hat Satellite
