Summary of Position: As the academic leader of the School of Integrated Learning & Development (SILD) of the College of Adult and Professional Studies (CAPS), the Dean is tasked with continuing to build a premier Christian School that prepares next generation educational leaders who integrate professional excellence, community engagement, and biblical principles.The School of Integrated Learning and Development is housed in the College of Adult and Professional Studies (CAPS), which has a long and vibrant history of serving adult learners through associate, bachelor’s, and graduate degrees. The Dean will embrace and articulate a philosophy of education that is consistent with adult learning, innovation, and workforce relevance.The Dean will be a dynamic and collaborative leader with a proven track record of success in academic leadership, program development, and organizational engagement. This individual will cast a compelling vision for the School, while giving direction to its leadership team and coordinating School activities with leaders from other University academic and operational units to advance Indiana Wesleyan University's mission.The Dean will ensure programs are high-quality, innovative, and delivered in accordance with the mission, academic policies, and accrediting standards of the University.Duties And ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate a mature personal faith in Jesus Christ and willingly embraces the theological and lifestyle commitments of The Wesleyan Church Exercise mature spiritual leadership in all aspects of the development and administration of the SchoolProvide vision and leadership for the School, advancing innovative and future-oriented models of higher education aligned with workforce and community needs Develop and strengthen partnerships with community organizations, educational institutions, and service-based agencies to align academic programs with emerging societal and professional needs Provide oversight to ensure that programs are conducted in accordance with the academic policies of the University and institutional and program accrediting bodies. Ensure that curriculum development, instruction, and program assessment maintain academic integrity, rigor, and innovation in teaching and learning Serve as the School representative on committees, councils, and professional meetings as assignedOversee development and management of the School budget with a focus on achieving revenue goals and effectively managing expenditures Serve on the College of Adult and Professional Studies Academic Team and collaborate with individuals and teams from other Colleges, Schools, and operational departments across IWU Interview and recommend approval or denial of faculty applicants and ensure University and CAPS policies are followed in the hiring of all personnel within the School Foster faculty development and maintain an environment that supports scholarly engagement, teaching excellence, and professional growth Maintain intellectual vitality through professional engagement, scholarship, and presentations that advance the mission and model of Indiana Wesleyan UniversityEnsure that School personnel provide high-quality service to both internal and external stakeholders Exhibit a culturally responsive and sensitive demeanor in working within a diverse academic communityAchieve all other duties as assignedSupervises the following positions:Director of Academic OperationsDirector of Assessment and AccreditationAssistant Director of Curriculum Development and Project ManagementAdministrative AssistantFull-time Teaching FacultyAny additional administrative faculty positions addedQualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.EducationDoctorate in a discipline of Education or a closely related field requiredExperienceDemonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and culturesDemonstrated experience with teacher education accreditationAt least five (5) years of experience in classroom P-12 teachingCollege level teaching (preferably online and onsite), particularly with adult learnersAt least five (5) years in academic, administrative positionExcellent team-building and leadership skills demonstrated in a leadership role in a complex organizationRequired SkillsStrong oral and written communication skillsExcellent organizational skills demonstrated in a leadership role in complex organizationStrong analysis and problem-solving skills demonstrated in a leadership role in a complex organizationDemonstrated ability to create collaborationExcellent team-building and leadership skills demonstrated in a leadership role in a complex organizationIWU Kingdom Diversity StatementIWU, in covenant with God's reconciling work and in accordance with the Biblical principles of our historic Wesleyan tradition, commits to build a community that reflects Kingdom diversity.
