Aviation Maintenance Technology Instructor

Northwest Mississippi Community College seeks a full-time, 10-month instructor for the Aviation Maintenance Technology program at the Olive Branch Center. The selected instructor will provide modern instruction, foster a professional learning environment, and support the college's reputation for delivering quality instruction and preparing highly trained graduates for employment.QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in:Aviation maintenancePrior work experience must include:Maintenance of aircraftInspection of aircraftAlterations to powerplants and airframesRepairs to powerplants and airframesHeavy and/or light category aircraftAssociate of Applied Science degree preferred in:Aviation Maintenance TechnologyOr a directly related fieldMust be certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a mechanic with:Airframe ratingPowerplant rating (A&P certification)PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:* Previous teaching and/or training experience in aviation maintenance preferredDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Ensure all requirements of college and industry partners are metMaintain compliance with all FAA requirementsMaintain professionalism with students, coworkers, and community membersProvide excellent classroom and laboratory instruction in aviation maintenance using modern teaching methods and career-focused learning experiencesPrepare lesson plans, job sheets, and laboratory demonstrationsRecommend curriculum updates to maintain program relevanceMonitor student progress, including internship participantsCollaborate with instructors and support staffContinuously improve teaching methods and aviation maintenance skillsMaintain compliance with all professional licensing requirements, including FAA standardsTeach course material according to syllabus, catalog, and employer expectationsPrepare and grade examinations and assignments in a timely mannerImplement outcomes assessment and maintain student satisfaction standardsEncourage student engagement and retentionBegin and end classes on schedule with full instructional periodsMaintain accurate attendance, grade, and reporting recordsSubmit reports required by NWCC, the Mississippi Community College Board, FAA, and other partnersAttend faculty meetings, in-service meetings, and college eventsParticipate in campus and community extracurricular activitiesSupervise laboratory experiencesMaintain a clean and safe laboratory environmentMaintain inventory of assigned equipment and toolsMaintain an active advisory committee with at least two meetings annuallyVisit industry partners to maintain employer relationships and monitor internshipsAdvice and counsel studentsAssist students with employment placementServe on faculty committeesParticipate in required training and professional development activitiesPerform additional duties as assigned by the Associate VP for Workforce & Career Tech Education in support of the College missionPHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:While performing the duties of this job, the instructor is regularly required to do the following:Stand for long periodsTalk, hear, view, and assist studentsCommunicate with others in person, telephone, zoom, & live chatSit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and armsStand, walk, stoop, or kneelOccasionally lift and/or move items of at least 15-20 poundsAPPLICATIONInterested applicants, should attach and submit the following:Application at www.northwestms.eduTranscriptResumeThree (3) Professional References (Name, Email and Phone Number)Application Deadline: Open Until Filled
