As we evolve toward AI-driven networking and security, we are building next-generation data plane technologies to power secure, intelligent traffic processing for modern enterprises.Role OverviewWe are looking for a Principal Engineer/Architect – Data Plane & Proxy (GenAI Focus) with deep expertise in network data plane and proxy development to help design and build high-performance, scalable systems at the core of Aryaka's platform.This role sits at the intersection of networking, security, and emerging GenAI/Agent-driven architectures, and is ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex system challenges while also elevating the engineering team through mentorship and technical leadership.What You'll DoDesign and develop high-performance data plane systems for proxying, inspection, and traffic processingBuild and optimize forward/reverse proxy architectures with a focus on scalability, reliability, and low latencyContribute to and extend Envoy-based proxy infrastructure and related ecosystemsWork on deep packet processing, protocol parsing, and application-layer inspectionIntegrate GenAI / Agent-based capabilities into networking and security workflowsLead system design discussions, drive architecture decisions, and own critical components end-to-endDiagnose and resolve complex performance and production issues across distributed systemsCollaborate with globally distributed teams (including India) to deliver high-quality featuresMentor junior engineers and foster a strong culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharingWhat We're Looking ForCore Requirements10+ years of experience in systems engineering / networking software developmentStrong programming expertise in C/C++Deep understanding of network data plane conceptsHands-on experience building or working with proxies (forward/reverse), L7 systems, or traffic processing enginesSolid knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, and modern web protocolsProven experience in system design, scalability, and performance optimizationStrong debugging and troubleshooting skills in complex distributed environmentsPreferred QualificationsExperience with Envoy Proxy or similar modern proxy frameworksExposure to SASE / SSE / security systems (SWG, CASB, ZTNA, DLP)Familiarity with Kubernetes and cloud-native architecturesExperience or strong interest in GenAI, LLMs, or Agent-based systemsExperience with deep packet inspection, protocol parsing, or security enforcement enginesWhat Sets You ApartPassion for mentoring and growing engineersAbility to translate complex problems into elegant system designsStrong ownership mindset with the ability to drive initiatives independentlyComfort working across time zones and global teamsCuriosity to explore how AI transforms networking and security architecturesWhy This Role MattersYou will be working on the core data plane that powers next-generation secure networking, including emerging AI-aware traffic inspection and control systems.
