This role can support one or more key areas of the business, such as Commercial, Operations, Legal and Compliance, by delivering practical guidance that aligns with corporate objectives and protects the Company's interests. The Senior Counsel serves as a trusted advisor to management and internal stakeholders, helping to develop strategies, processes, and solutions that promote strong governance, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance. This role reports to either Assistant General Counsel or General Counsel.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPartner with senior management and cross‐functional business leaders to understand and support the Company's strategic and operational prioritiesDraft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements (customer, vendor, supply, technology, services, real estate, and others), collaborating closely with Commercial and Operations teamsAdvise on legal, operational, and compliance risks associated with business initiatives, transactions, policies, and day‐to‐day activitiesAssist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of corporate policies, procedures, templates, and governance processesProvide support on regulatory matters, including monitoring emerging regulations, conducting legal analyses, and providing training to internal stakeholdersSupport the Compliance department in areas such as ethics investigations, compliance program enhancements, training, and risk assessmentsProvide legal oversight and strategic guidance on intellectual property matters, including protection, enforcement, and awareness initiativesAssist with real estate and facilities‐related matters, including leases and operational supportConduct legal research and prepare concise, business‐oriented summaries and recommendations for senior leadershipHelp identify, assess, and manage operational and enterprise‐level risks; collaborate with risk management functions on claims, notices, insurance reviews, and related mattersRetain, manage, and oversee outside counsel to ensure cost‐effective, high‐quality legal servicesAssist with litigation and dispute management, including coordination with internal stakeholders and external counselSupport legal department operations, including budgeting, system improvements, vendor management, and process optimizationMentor and provide guidance to other department staff, contributing to professional development and a collaborative team environmentRepresent the Legal Department on internal committees and cross‐functional initiativesEducation & Certifications* J.D. from accredited university with a preference for top-tiered university* Must be licensed to practice law in the United StatesWork ExperienceMinimum 10 years of legal experience required, preferably in a corporate legal department or a combination of law firm and in‐house experienceMinimum 5 years of experience in the oilfield services or energy industryStrong background in commercial transactions and operations support; experience supporting supply chain/logistics, compliance, regulatory, intellectual property and cross‐functional corporate teams is a plusSkills & AbilitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex issues in clear, business‐friendly termsProficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly SharePoint, PowerPoint) and contracts management systemsStrong analytical, research, and problem‐solving skills; ability to synthesize information and develop actionable recommendationsAbility to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast‐paced environmentDemonstrated ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively across departmentsSound judgment and a high level of professional integrityPhysical DemandsMust be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the timeConstantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine and computer printerFrequently communicates with other employees about their legal inquiries.
