With that in mind, we encourage all qualified applicants to apply.Job DescriptionThe role of Nauvoo Facilities Management is to create an atmosphere where the Spirit can testify to the truths of the Restoration by maintaining the beauty of Nauvoo and its facilities.NFM maintains all historic properties in Nauvoo, as well as all related missionary housing. This includes but is not limited to repair, renovation, reconstruction, preventative maintenance, and new construction.This position will operate heavy equipment as it pertains to projects and maintenance. Equipment includes, but is not limited to, backhoe, front end loader, skid steer, mini excavator, tractors, and lifts.This position will also perform basic maintenance and repair on the equipment, as well as vehicles.ResponsibilitiesDrives and operates one or more pieces of heavy equipment, such as frontend loader, excavators, backhoe, tractors, and trucks to perform specified activity pertaining to projects. These activities may include tree removal, digging, foundation work, construction work, and demolition.Inspects defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions. Maintains as well as repairs various pieces of equipment. Performs major mechanical work taking equipment apart, repairing and replacing parts short of a complete engine overhaul.Keeps a maintenance log on each piece of equipment serviced. Uses tools, gauges, manuals, etc. when repairing equipment. Performs machinist work and operates a welder to fabricate and repair equipment.QualificationsRequiredFour years of relevant experience with machinery operations or a Bachelor's degree in a mechanical field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.Must have a strong mechanical aptitude with proven experience (normally two years mechanical experience) in equipment maintenance and repair.Ability to use basic mechanic and maintenance tools including a welder.Ability to determine what type of maintenance various pieces of equipment would need and follow a maintenance schedule.Demonstrated aptitude for operating above listed equipment.Must have a basic knowledge of sound safety practices relating to construction. Requires heavy physical labor including pushing, pulling and lifting.Lift equipment and tools weighing 60-70 lbs by hand or hoist.Able to wear required safety equipment and clothing as required.Able to traverse ditches and fences to perform duties.Able to sit for long hours on noisy, vibrating equipment in dusty, hot, wet or cold environment.Able to climb onto machinery and utilize gears, pedals and steering mechanisms simultaneously.Able to distinguish differences in sounds to determine possible machinery malfunctions.PreferredCDL (class A) driver's license preferred.About UsChurch employees find joy and satisfaction in using their unique talents and abilities to further the Lord’s work.
