Automation TechnicianLocation: Taylor, MI Company: Oakwood Group Position OverviewOakwood Group is seeking a hands-on, solutions-driven Automation Technician to support the integration, performance, and reliability of automated manufacturing systems across our operations.This role plays a critical part in bridging controls, electrical systems, and production needs-working from initial equipment integration through launch and ongoing optimization. Success in this role will be measured by improvements in uptime, throughput, quality, and responsiveness to issues.The Automation Technician will collaborate closely with internal teams, OEMs, and system integrators to deliver safe, scalable, and high-performing automation solutions. Key ResponsibilitiesSupport automation and machine integration projects from concept through launch, including commissioning and production start-upPerform hands-on troubleshooting and optimization of automated production equipmentProgram and maintain PLCs, robotics, HMIs, sensors, drives, and industrial networksDiagnose and resolve electrical, controls, and system integration issuesPartner with OEMs, integrators, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful system implementationContribute to continuous improvement efforts to enhance equipment reliability and performanceAssist in developing and maintaining technical documentation, standards, and best practicesStay current on emerging automation technologies and industry trends Qualifications RequiredMinimum 5 years of experience in an industrial automation or controls technician role OR completion of a 2-year mechatronics/automation controls programStrong knowledge of electrical systems (24VDC, 120VAC, 208VAC, 480VAC)Experience working with robotics and automated systems in a manufacturing environmentAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics and ladder logicExperience with industrial sensors, pneumatics, and troubleshootingStrong problem-solving and diagnostic skillsEffective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionallyWillingness to work overtime as needed PreferredExperience with machine vision systemsExperience with HMI/SCADA developmentFamiliarity with OPC UA, MQTT, or other industrial data integration technologies What Sets This Opportunity ApartDirect involvement in advanced automation and integration projectsExposure to cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teamsOpportunity to influence standardization and continuous improvement effortsStable, growth-oriented manufacturing environment Apply TodayIf you thrive in a hands-on automation environment and enjoy solving complex technical challenges, we encourage you to apply and join the Oakwood team.PIf9a323fb1-
