Senior Project Accountant | Rockville, MD | $95K–$105K + BonusA growing commercial services organization is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to join its corporate accounting team in Rockville, MD. This is a highly visible opportunity supporting large-scale installation and project-based operations within a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.This role will work closely with Project Managers, Operations, and Leadership teams to oversee project financials, maintain Work in Process (WIP) schedules, support budgeting initiatives, and ensure accurate revenue recognition throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have strong project accounting experience within construction, HVAC, mechanical services, fire/life safety, or other project-driven industries.Key Responsibilities:Maintain and reconcile WIP schedules including project costs, billings, and revenue recognitionSupport budgeting and forecasting for installation and operational projectsAnalyze project financial performance including budget-to-actual reportingPrepare monthly project financial reports and supporting schedulesPartner closely with Project Managers regarding profitability, billing accuracy, and cost trackingSupport month-end and year-end close activitiesReview contracts and change orders for proper accounting treatmentPrepare AIA billings where applicableAssist with audits and process improvement initiativesSupport operational standardization across multiple entities and locationsQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field5+ years of project accounting or construction accounting experienceStrong experience with WIP schedules and project financial reportingAdvanced Excel skills required (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, financial analysis)Experience with Sage Intacct or similar ERP systems preferredStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skillsPreferred Background:ConstructionHVACMechanical ServicesFire/Life SafetyCommercial ServicesField-Service or Installation-Based OrganizationsCompensation & Benefits:$95,000–$105,000 base salaryQuarterly bonus opportunitiesComprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage401(k) with company matchCompany-paid life and disability insurancePTO, holidays, and tuition reimbursementThis is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional looking to play a key role within a collaborative and expanding organization.
