Quality Control Inspector

*Overview* We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Control Inspector to join our manufacturing team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and maintain the integrity of our manufacturing processes. *PURPOSE*The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that incoming materials, work-in-process, and finished products meet Electro Prep's quality standards, customer specifications, engineering drawings, and IPC workmanship requirements. This position plays a critical role in preventing defects, maintaining compliance with the Company's Quality Management System, and ensuring customer satisfaction. *ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* *Incoming Inspection* * Inspect incoming materials and components to verify compliance with purchase orders, engineering drawings, and customer specifications. * Verify Certificates of Compliance (C of C), material certifications, and supplier documentation when required. * Identify, document, and segregate non-conforming materials. * Communicate supplier quality concerns to the Quality Manager. *In-Process Inspection* * Perform first article and first-piece inspections. * Conduct in-process inspections during manufacturing to verify compliance with work instructions and IPC workmanship standards. * Verify wire colors, gauges, terminals, connector orientation, labels, markings, crimp quality, solder workmanship, and assembly configuration. * Support production by answering workmanship questions and identifying quality concerns before products reach final inspection. *Final Inspection* * Perform final inspection of completed cable assemblies, wire harnesses, electro-mechanical assemblies, and box-build products. * Verify products meet customer drawings, specifications, work instructions, travelers, and inspection plans. * Confirm all required documentation, labels, test reports, certifications, and packaging requirements are complete prior to shipment. * Approve product for shipment or identify non-conforming conditions requiring corrective action. *Documentation and Quality Records* * Complete inspection reports accurately and completely. * Maintain quality records in accordance with ISO 9001 procedures. * Document non-conforming material reports (NCMRs) and support corrective action activities. * Assist with First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) when required. *Continuous Improvement* * Identify recurring quality issues and recommend corrective actions. * Participate in root cause investigations and continuous improvement activities. * Help reduce scrap, rework, and customer returns through proactive quality inspections. *Additional Responsibilities* * Maintain a clean, organized inspection area. * Handle customer products with care to prevent damage. * Ensure inspection equipment is properly maintained and calibrated before use. * Perform other duties as assigned. *QUALIFICATIONSRequired* * High school diploma or equivalent. * Minimum three years of quality inspection or manufacturing experience in cable assembly, wire harness, or electro-mechanical assembly. * IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certification (or ability to obtain within six months). * J-STD-001 Certification (preferred for solder inspection). * Ability to read engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, work instructions, and travelers. * Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. * Basic computer skills for documentation and ERP transactions. * Ability to distinguish wire colors. * Ability to use calipers, microscopes, continuity testers, and other inspection equipment. * Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand or sit for extended periods. *Preferred* * Experience inspecting cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and box-build assemblies. * ISO 9001 Quality Management System experience. * Familiarity with ERP or quality management software. * Experience supporting military, medical, or industrial manufacturing. *KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)* * 99.5% inspection accuracy * Zero customer escapes resulting from inspection errors * 100% on-time completion of required inspections * Accurate completion of quality documentation * Reduction in internal scrap and rework * Timely identification and reporting of non-conforming materials * Compliance with calibration and inspection procedures *WORK ENVIRONMENT*Works in a clean, climate-controlled electronics manufacturing environment. Regular use of microscopes, measuring instruments, testing equipment, and computers is required. Frequent interaction with Production, Engineering, Purchasing, and Program Management. Standard work schedule is four 9-hour days and one 4-hour day, with overtime as required to support customer commitments.
