It is your primary responsibility to prepare all students with the academic and social skills necessary to persist and engage productively in their communities. Under the direction of the Lead Teacher, work with students in small groups or in one-to-one assignments to teach, reinforce, or follow up learning activities in core academic, language, and/or specialized subject areas. These duties shall be designed to complement the instructional program to maximize the learning opportunity for the inclusion student. The Paraprofessional will also assist in the establishment and implementation of appropriate classroom and school-wide behavior and perform a routine of clerical tasks as assigned.Learning, additionally, does not stop in the classroom. Our goal is to always align our program with the desires of our community.Your ResponsibilitiesPlanningInstructional delivery and assessment of student lessons.Work with students to master specified IEP goals.Analyze student work and track progress data.Instructional DeliveryProvide daily intervention for a small group of students.Provide individual instruction/tutoring both inside and outside of the classroom setting.Assist the Special Education teacher with English, Life Skills, Social Skills, and Math classes taught/delivered in a self-contained classroom.Learning EnvironmentProcedures, routines, and transitions are clear and efficient to create a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment.Consistently engages in community and restorative circles with students.Teacher builds trust authentically and cares for the whole child as well as the family unit the child is a part of.Advocates for the needs of students in the classroom.Professional Practices and ResponsibilitiesParticipate in ARD committee meetings.Monitor students during recess or lunch.Assist with daily living, which may include personal care, hygiene, feeding, lifting, and/or toileting.Monitor behavior and implement restorative behavior practicesWork with other support personnel: Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Licensed Specialist in School Psychology, and Physical Therapists.Meet professional standards in accordance with the Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators and Compass Rose Employee handbook/policies.
