Average patients/day? o Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years PCU experience o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: o Progressive Care and Medical Surgical patients o Cardiothoracic surgeries, COVID-19 pneumonia, Hypoxia, COPD, CHF, A-fib, SVT, UTI, Sepsis, SI, DKA, Bariatrics, HD/CKD, DIEP Flap, Esophagectomy, ETOH withdrawal, hemodialysis/peritoneal dialysis patients. Noninvasive ventilation: Nitric Oxide Therapy, Continuous Bipap Patient Ratios: o 1:3-5 Required License, National Certification, Certs: o BLS, ACLS Skills required: o Telemetry interpretation, chronic trachs, chest tubes, patients on high flow oxygen systems, IV starts o Drips: heparin, insulin, diltiazem, amiodarone, nitro (not titrated) o Unit layout similar to ICU functioning as cardiac stepdown caring for high acuity medical/surgical/cardiac patients. Bedside monitors in rooms with decentralized nurses stations o Charge RN experience preferred, not required. Please include in offer if traveler has this experience. Support within the Department: o CNA – yes, 1:5-8 ratio o HUC during the day o Charge nurse – may take light patient load o Phlebotomy o Rapid Response/Code Team o RT 24/7 o Hospitalist 24/7 o Educator o Telemetry monitoring/tech Technology/Equipment: o EMR: EPIC – preferred experience o IV Pump: Alaris o Med dispensing: Pyxis o Monitors: Client B650 bedside monitor o Unit specific equipment: Floating: If yes, where? o Will float within scope of practice and below. Could float to ICU to care for PCU level patients o Travelers first to float Orientation (facility and unit) : o NEO o 1 shift of unit orientation Scheduling: o Weekend rotation: Every other or less. Could be as low as every fourth weekend. Nights shift weekends are Friday/Saturday night.
