Job DescriptionDescription- UH St John Medical Ortho -The Orthopedic, Spine, and Surgical Department is a 26-bed unit that focuses on providing care for patients requiring orthopedic, spine and/or general surgery. - WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE? Our Total Joint Program provides pre and post-operative care, education and follow-up. \ N- Click HERE to learn more about the unit & meet the Nurse Manager!\ NA Brief Overview\ NTo maintain the nursing staff in all areas as well as to deliver safe efficient age specific nursing care to patient/families.\ NWhat You Will Do\ N\nRoutinely provide patient care.\ NCollaborate with the interdisciplinary team.\ NMaintains employee records.\ NIdentifies needs for andprovides Staff education/staff development.\ NParticipates in Discharge planning, community resource referrals, and education.\ NCommittee involvement, participate in quality improvement initiatives.\ NOversees daily operations of unit/area in a cost-effective manner.\ NInvolved in Community outreach activities as pertinent Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients/customers and co-workers.\ NTakes responsibility forself-development and supports a learning environment.\ NDisplays commitment to the mission and values of the organization.\ N\nAdditional Responsibilities\ N\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\ NComplies with all policies and standards.\ NFor specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.\ NMust abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.\ NQualifications Education(ADN) Associate's Degree in Nursing (Required)(BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing within 2 years of hire date (Required) or(MSN) Master's Degree in Nursing within 2 years of hire date (Required)Work Experience1+ years clinical experience (Required)Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesDemonstrates strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills both written and verbal, as well as, exhibiting strong organizational skills and work ethic. (Required proficiency)Demonstrates a professional demeanor when responding to patients/customers. (Required proficiency)Demonstrated ability to handle high pressure situations with professionalism and integrity.
