Research And Development Technician

We are hiring Research & Development Technicians at the Associate and Mid Level to support prototype and pre‑production testing in a fast‑paced R&D lab.You’ll work closely with engineers on new and evolving product builds, supporting advanced data center cooling, liquid cooling, and enclosure solutions. This role offers strong technical exposure and growth opportunities for candidates looking to build or further develop a career in R&D and product testing.What You'll Do!Set up and complete prototype, pre‑production, and agency testing in nVent’s R&D lab across enclosures, cooling, and high-density liquid cooling (HDLC) product areas.Partner closely with engineers to understand test intent, adapt test setups, and support evolving test plans and procedures.Build, modify, and operate test fixtures, lab equipment, and prototypes to support new product development and validation testing.Collect accurate test results, record measurements and observations, and prepare clear, well‑organized technical reports with observations and supporting data.Identify, analyze, and address test setups, equipment issues, and product behavior—applying mechanical, electrical, and controls knowledge.Support lab organization, equipment calibration, and continuous improvement efforts to increase lab efficiency and throughput.Contribute to design, value engineering, and new product introduction (NPI) activities by providing hands‑on lab and testing support.Required Experiences!Basic QualificationsAssociate degree or technical training in Electrical, Electronics, HVAC, Refrigeration, or related field OR equivalent hands-on lab experienceExperience working in an engineering, R&D, or test lab environment (industrial or manufacturing preferred)Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitudeComfortable using lab instruments such as calipers, micrometers, pressure/force gauges, and voltage metersAbility to clearly document test results using standard computer tools (e.g., Microsoft Office)Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work standing or sitting for extended periodsEPA 608 certification required or willingness to obtain within 3 months (company paid)Additional Experience (Mid‑Level R&D Technician)2+ years of hands‑on experience in an R&D or engineering labAbility to independently troubleshoot and solve complex test or equipment issuesExperience working with evolving test plans and minimal supervisionCompensation & Benefits!Hourly pay range of $20.38 – $44.42, based on role level, skills, and experienceOpportunity for additional incentives depending on positionComprehensive benefits package for eligible employees including: Medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, Paid time off and holidays, & Tuition reimbursement and professional development support
